Sufganiyot (soof-gah-nee-oht): Light, jam-filled doughnuts dusted with sugar—have been part of Jewish culinary tradition for centuries. Their history reaches back to the 16th century, with the first known recipe appearing in a cookbook from Nuremberg, Germany. While they became strongly tied to Hanukkah because foods fried in oil honor the miracle of the menorah burning for eight days, these pastries have traveled far in both culture and meaning. In Poland, their close cousins—pączki—are similarly cherished, known for their rich dough and sweet fillings.

Each year, we bring this rich tradition to life with our own gluten-free twist: soft, sweet, gluten-free Sufganiyot made entirely in our dedicated gluten-free facility. Filled with bright, fruity raspberry jam and freshly fried for that classic, tender texture, they’re crafted with care and attention to the heritage behind them. Though the recipe is fully gluten-free, they’re considered plant-based (not vegan) because they share a fryer with our other brioche-based doughnuts.

We serve them only during this season because Sufganiyot are meant to be a once-a-year celebration—warm, nostalgic, and tied to stories of joy, resilience, and cultural connection. INGREDIENTS: Dough: Brown rice flour, rice milk (water, rice, organic expeller pressed canola oil and/or organic safflower oil, and/or organic sunflower oil, organic tapioca starch, tricalcium phosphate, organic flavor, sea salt, xanthan gum, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, vitamin B12), butter substitute (palm fruit oil, canola oil, olive oil, salt, water, sunflower lecithin, lactic acid, annatto extract), water, tapioca flour, egg replacer (tapioca flour, arrowroot powder, citrus fiber, cream of tartar, sodium bicarbonate), sugar, yeast, sea salt, xanthan gum. Filling: Raspberry jam (organic raspberry puree, organic cane sugar, pectin solution (water, apple pectin), ascorbic  acid (vitamin C), citric acid.
